In the vicinity of this ghat the major forts Kailasgad, Ghangad, Sudhagad & Sarasgad still attracts many trekkers. We are covering the offbeat range of Nandand ghat within three days along with forts.Kailasgad: - Base village Vaduste (51 km from Lonavala) The fort atop 1100 meter from mean sea level, used as watch tower. A small fort on the banks of beautiful Mulashi dam. Trek to the fort is short goes through a cole, leads to a small plateau. On the way to top towards left side there is a large rock cut cave & water cisterns. On the top there are ruins of old homes, a shivling carved in rock. From the top one can view surrounding Mulashi Dam, Ghangad & Tamhini ghat.Ghangad: - Base village EkoleThe fort height is 782 meter from MSL. The trail to fort goes through dense plantation. On route one can visit Garjai Devi temple & surrounding devrai, there is Shilalekh in temple. Way ahead goes to a cole, which offers beautiful view of Konkan Khore. Further ahead entrance to the fort through two small bastions & ruined main door. There are two caves after crossing twenty steps of entrance & water cisterns. Steps leading to Balekilla was blown by British, one needs to do proper rock climbing (15 ft. rock patch) to reach atop.Sudhagad: - will trek via Kevani plateau, Nandand ghat & Thakurwadi to the fort.A huge fort of around 50 acres plateau atop located in the vicinity of famous Pali (680 meter from MSL).
